The Inspirational Learning Group are thrilled to be working with Realise charity to promote employability skills in Staffordshire.
The ‘Our Town, Our Future’ project is a bespoke 6-month project which has been written specifically for young people
aged 13 – 14 at The Kings CE (A) School in Kidsgrove.
Students at the school will develop their knowledge of their local community whilst looking specifically at the town’s heritage, anticipated improvements to the town as a result of the Town Deals Fund, and most importantly, exploring career opportunities which exist within their local labour market.
Whilst completing this project, participants will have an opportunity to develop key employability skills, such as organisation, problem-solving and leadership whilst recognising the specific skills that local employers are looking for in prospective employees.
Across the 6 months, students will be developing an idea for a new service that would address an issue affecting their local community. To develop this service they will need to identify a target customer or service-user and must be able to demonstrate how their idea would help or support this identified group.
When asked about the project TILG Delivery Manager and project lead Liam Brookes said, “We’re delighted to be working with Realise charity to deliver this project. In a period of huge investment in the Kidsgrove area, it is vital that the voices of young people are heard. Ultimately this funding will shape their future career prospects so it is imperative their opinions are not overlooked.”
Geoff Beadle, Charity Programme Manager at Realise charity, added “At Realise, we’re committed to building better futures for people in our communities. This is now more important than ever with the challenges and uncertainty that families have faced during the pandemic.
“We’re delighted to fund the ‘Our Town, Our Future’ project and to support The Inspirational Learning Group to promote employability amongst young people in Kidsgrove.
“This is a fantastic project that has the potential to change lives, to shape future careers, and to provide young people with skills that will help them to build their own futures.”.
The Inspirational Learning Group is keen to connect with Kidsgrove-based employers who may wish to participate in this project to promote key skills and career progression.
