The Big Career Conversation – A Report

The Inspirational Learning Group are proud to be associated with a research report which was commissioned by the Business Intelligence and Advisory Group of our new owners Dev Clever Holdings PLC.

The report is one of the most comprehensive discussions with young people and was distributed to pupils that took part in The Inspirational Learning Group summer schools earlier this year. The survey spanned across Year Groups 7, 9 and 11 and focusing on career aspirations and how pupils had received career guidance and advice throughout their time in education and is the largest report of its kind.

With over 3,600 responses from pupils, supported with interviews with employers and headteachers, this report provides a comprehensive summary of the current position, regarding careers support offered in Schools and what employers want from young people.

The report findings are stark, with most pupils still struggling to understand how to get comprehensive careers information, advice and support and believing they do not get enough careers advice and support in Schools.

With many welcome developments from The Education Bill, Careers Hubs and through organisations such as The Careers and Enterprise Company, this research still highlights that much more needs to be done to support our young people.

Young people need career guidance support more than ever. The social and economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will be felt for many years to come and the Inspirational Learning Group continue to play their part in helping young people to build the skills for their transition into the world of work.
